We welcome you to our on-line home whether you share our Christian faith or not. Since much of what we share has to do with Christianity, we’ve provided here a brief introduction to the good news of Jesus. As the overall theme of our site indicates, this good news is rooted in what we call the grace or unmerited favor of God, which is available to sinful men and women, boys and girls.
To help explain this we’ve drawn up an acrostic using the word “grace”:
G: God exists eternally as a personal but self-sufficient being in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. He is our Creator who, although so great, desires fellowship with us.
R: Rebellion is the reason we do not naturally possess a relationship with God. Adam, our common father, broke loose from God, choosing to go his own way. Since we are conceived and born in Adam’s fallen human nature, we inherit his rebellious nature, we operate out of it, and have no power of ourselves to transform it.
A: Atonement is what we need. Atonement is, in short, “at-one-ment” with God. Since we have no desire or ability of ourselves to return to God, he has taken the initiative in forging a relationship with us. He has done so by sending his son to rescue us from the rebellion of our sin and its consequences.
C: Christ alone can atone for our sins. Because he is divine he has the power to save us; because he is human he can suffer the penalty of sin due to us. That penalty is death. Christ suffered it at the cross of Calvary.
E: Everlasting life is the blessing all receive who rest in the person and work of Christ for salvation. Authentic trust in Christ as Savior is indicated by a turning from sin unto God. This trust we call saving faith, the turning we describe as repentance. Said Jesus: “Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26).
